"Strongly disagree to terminology used for CM," AAP blasts Delhi L-G over Chhath Puja row

New Delhi (The Hawk): Following Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena's warning to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over "misleading" and "premature publicity" surrounding 'Chhath Puja,' the AAP responded on Thursday, objecting to the terminology used for the CM.

"We strongly oppose to the rhetoric used by L-G for Hon'ble CM," the AAP stated. The party said that the L-G was undermining the dignity of the chair he sits in by openly attacking the CM on a daily basis.

The L-G allowed celebrating Chhath Puja at selected ghats on the Yamuna on Wednesday, while cautioning Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against "misleading and premature publicity" on the matter.

In response, the party stated, "We strongly oppose the rhetoric used by L-G to refer to Hon'ble CM. He degrades the dignity of the office he holds by openly attacking the CM on a daily basis. CM is an elected politician who was elected for the third time in a row by unprecedented margins."

The party further stated that L-G Saxena "had no business publicly reprimanding CM every day."

"The LG is desperate for cheap publicity and wants to see his name in the papers every day," the party claimed.

"This is really problematic since it defies the basic foundations of the governance model. Premature public disclosure of the decision generates interest and thus influences the decision-making process independently in the matter, which is extremely sensitive because it relates to religious beliefs and practises of a large segment of the population "After approving the Chhath Puja at the designated Ghats on the Yamuna Bank, the L-G office issued a statement on Wednesday.
